Slumdog and the storm

Slumdog Millionaire was nominated for ten Academy Awards and won eight, the most for any film that year, including Best Picture and Best Director. It also won five Critics' Choice Awards, four Golden Globes, and seven BAFTA Awards, including Best Film.

Despite this overwhelming spendthrift recognition across globe, the hullabaloo seems not fading out. Its pride for our nation, it’s the movie which has broaden our prospective towards the international film making standards and there level of understanding Indian sentiments. ...

Talibanised Pak a new threat

The Pakistan government has recently called truce with the Taliban, but is  peace back in the province? Are people able to breathe the air of freedom? Not exactly. Geo TV reporter Musa Khan was killed in the Swat province of Pakistan by unknown gunmen on Wednesday night.

Following the Sharia law and the peace deal, the two guns have finally fallen silent in the region. But this is only the lull before the storm.

The Taliban movement is headed by Mullah Mohammed Omar. Omar’s original commanders consist of small military heads, Madarssa teachers and Afghan refugees, who had studied at Islamic religious schools in Pakistan. The group operates in Afghanistan and the Frontier Tribal Areas of Pakistan.

Ashutosh the arrogant, Sajid you are the best…

Last weekend during the Screen Award ceremony Bollywood director Ashutosh Gowariker created a flutter by criticizing host of the show Sajid Khan for making mockery of well-known personalities from the film industry on stage.

Sajid Khan caused quite a few stars to be upset about his notorious comments. However, most of the actors decided to let it go since it was a show – a TV show where people do look for such sort of entertainments and humors.

The winner of the best director award Ashutosh had had enough of it and said that the audience had come down to hear the recognition speeches of the winners and not his impudent interpretation.

It was a day at the Social Security Number office at Fresno California – Social security number which you need to get a job, collect social security benefits and receive some other government services.

I was enlightened about the social security number and the Necessity of it with the help of my friend’s passable knowledge who was there to apply for it. It gave me an eloquent comprehension on how people in US need this social standing and for what all benefits.

I was sitting quietly at the “quite please” area where nobody is entitled to speak in loud voice. My friend’s ticket number was called up on and he moved to the window, where he was supposed to be counseled in order to have the number. ...
