Last weekend during the Screen Award ceremony Bollywood director Ashutosh Gowariker created a flutter by criticizing host of the show Sajid Khan for making mockery of well-known personalities from the film industry on stage.
Sajid Khan caused quite a few stars to be upset about his notorious comments. However, most of the actors decided to let it go since it was a show – a TV show where people do look for such sort of entertainments and humors.
The winner of the best director award Ashutosh had had enough of it and said that the audience had come down to hear the recognition speeches of the winners and not his impudent interpretation.
After exchange of heated words on the stage, Ashutosh told Khan to ‘shut up’ as he walked off the stage. Khan came back with a reply saying that, ‘Nobody’s father can stop me,’ which caused a few actors in the audience to be shocked.
Few minutes later Farah Khan tried to calmed down Ashutosh and clarified that all of brother Sajid’s comments were to be taken in a good gesture and just humor. She further said that during the Oscars, recipients are not allowed to speak beyond 40 seconds. However, at the end it looked like he was not convinced and hence not satisfied.
What really ridicules me is the behavior of Ashutosh. I think he has forgotten that he is part of the showbiz business where everything is made for the people.
The show was for the millions of people who were watching television and Sajid’s comments or act was nothing personal about anybody or anything.
It’s a fact that nobody is allowed to speak on the stage beyond a particular time, which Oscars also follows. And the act, he carried on the show by asking directors and actors to contribute funds to handle the ongoing crunch in the Bollywood industry, was not at all made to let down the industry.
Mr Ashutosh, tell me who is not affected by this recession bug and the Bollywood is not able to escape from it. Had it been not the case, Yash Raj could have signed an ace actress opposite to Shah Rukh Khan in Rab Ne Banadi Jodi or for that matter movie like Raaj “part 2” could have been well starred by not taking low paid, self proclaimed ‘I-am-the-loser’ all time portraying and carrying the drug addict image - Kangana.
Every week we are seeing how many movies are releasing on Fridays and how directors are running from pillar to post to carry low-budget films or asking Big Mans for funds to produce films – everybody is reading about it.
The Screen Award jury might have judged Jodha Akbar as the best film or the performance made by Hrithik as outstanding, but the long three and half hour torture inside the movie theatre was not less than the agony and the mental trauma while watching Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna.
The arrogance level of Ashutosh was quite visible after the pitiable movie got few awards. Hit movies like Jane Tu Ya Janena Sarkar Raj or Ghajni was far better than self proclaimed hit movie Jodha Akbar – where he went ahead twisting the history itself by portraying Jodha as Akbar’s wife.
It was an award ceremony in Bollywood and as much as we enjoy seeing the stars walking the red carpet, we also liked the plethora of humors shared by our hosts during the show. After all who does not want a little bit of humor and happiness in there life – hats off to you Sajid.

ASHUTOSH WAS RIGHT, SAJID & FARAH WERE ARROGANT & BITCHY!
I do not agree with this guy and his comments about Ashutosh. He is a respected film maker, I have seen only Lagaan but he was right about Sajid & Farah being arrogant & making fun in a very crude way! Farah made a comment about the ex-home min - RR Patil which was also in bad taste. She is lucky it was not against the Shiv Sena or MNS, she would know the response by now! The government should take note of her filthy comments against RR Patil. All i wish to say to Farah & Sajid is have fun & jokes but some of them were very crude & with children watching, you need to be careful with your language & comments. Yes it is a TV show but shown during prime time for an audience from 4 yrs - above! Screen & Nokia should ensure they do not invite this people for any further awards presentations. For Ashutosh I admire & salute him for taking a stand on the stage & also those people who support him!

Ashutosh have guts to stand and speak against the arrogance of Sajjid Khan
I saw screen award night with my wife last Saturday and frankly I was enjoying the light humor but then I realized Sajjid and Farha has drag it too far for such events. They have ridiculed more or less everybody. Sajjid's comment on A Wednesday director regarding his dress was very humiliating and I felt ridiculous sitting at home, this is not the type of entertainment people enjoy I am sure. Ashu was right and he did the best thing to stand and protested for the ridiculous comments.

Ashutosh wasn't wrong!! Sajeed should have some limits..
I strongly feel that Ashutosh was correct... you know, Sajeed was time-pass guy and he never ever took his profession seriously.. but, Ashutosh lives with the film and he is really hard working guy and emothinally attached to the film that he works.. making fun of anyone who is so much attached, would not be ideal everytime.. Sajeed was just doing that for everyone.. if the award function is just for pulling legs of others, it would be not more than just a friend's party.. but, here it is not the case.. there are very elder people and respected people .. you can treat them as if the way you do it with your friends.. fun is fine.. but, it should be limited to right people.. not to everyone, you can make fun of...

Ashutosh was right!
Humor is acceptable but what sajid was doing at the screen awards was insulting to the award winners. These award winners have worked hard the entire year and earned their awards,but to be riduculed instead of being respected is simply ridiculous. I also agree with clint_bond that from this article this writer appears anything but an "eloquent thinker". Plus the comments on Jodha Akbar are completely senseless. It was a beautiful movie and deserved the recognition it got.

Saajid Sucks!
Ashutosh was right, it's pathetic to watch these hosts (SRK, Saif, Saajid) to ridicule people like this. Humor can be had in a more tasteful versus hurtful and insulting way.
Who is Saajid to make fun of ppl. I cannot even stand to watch him in any show coz his humor is disgusting. I rather eat vomit than watch him!

SAJID CONFESSED HE MADE US BAKRA
Sajid in his latest interview has confessed that he and Ritesh made a "bakra" to the tv audience, about his 'gay' comments to Ritesh deshmukh.
How can we digest this?? How do we know that you again making us all bakra once again. For TRP, anybody will do anything in this industry, not sure. it sucks..

Ashutosh's action was right!
What Ashutosh did at awards was absolutely right & justifiable. Film makers work hard in making a film & they should get recognition for the same.
Humour is fine if it does not crosses the line. This did not happen at filmfare awards where Shahrukh & Saif were way below the standards & crossed lines to extremes.
We all laugh when jokes are mae on others, but we often find difficult to gulp jokes made on us in public.

SAJID/FARAH WERE WRONG
It was good that Ashutosh spoke about Sajid and their menance! their jokes are really sick..do not make any sense and people hardly laugh at them.
Sajid shoots keeping the gun on Farah's shoulders, while Farah depends on her circle of Shahruk and likes! Their sense of humour is Zero and they shouldnt be called again to host any filmy awards!!!

What the hell you think.Meet these celebrities outside they will treat you like a piece of shit or they will treat you like you don't exist.

Sajid/Farah were wrong
I dont say Ashutosh is right, he should not have start this topic....but Saajid Khan and Farah Khan were wrong....guys dont u think saajid's comments suck most the time..and I dont knw how they were chosen to host so precious award ceremony...Saajid's comments are suitable only for cheap TV shows not at this ceremony...I guess they are so pride so they do make fun of each and every celebrity...

I am agreed Raj...that was not the right moment to dig out this topic...but I guess Ashutosh has also become after making super hit movies like Lagaan,Swades,Jodha Akbar....that mihgt have made him arrogant...but I hate Saajid stupid comments....and that was the reason I dint enjoy the show...

Thanks to Ashutosh for standing up .Sajid and Farah give a bad name to the word "Host".It is understandable that Supporters of Sajid in your blog e.g.Mariam use profanities to make a point. It is just an extension of what Sajid and Farah preach at such shows.No class at all.

Ashutosh's comments & his stand against the self proclaimed host & ghost Sajid were absolutely right...Humour defines wen things said are light & may lighten up or pull up a smile or laughter ...Sajid definitely is very cheeky & witty however pulling someone down wit cheap comments & making a mockery of them in public is definitely not the humour we humans prefer or enjoy...He can keep his humour at home & share it wit his sis & family...Wonder wud he hav ever made fun of the Thackerays or Mr Bachchan...He simply is arrogant & has no credentials nor the character to host a show...Ashutosh U wer right!!!

If this guy, who claims to be the eloquent thinker had any clue of the history and a taste for a good movie, he would not have criticized Jodha Akbar under the lights of Jane thu...etc,. First build a decent taste for movies. Does he even have a clue about the contributions of Manoj Kumar to the industry that he seems to be closely analyzing. Does he remember the way he was mocked in the movie 'OSO', which was ironically directed by Farah khan and the role was played by Shahrukh? First be a proper thinker, then you can start blogging you moron...

Its a TV show you can restrict kids
Well in movies we know whether we should take our kids to see them or not..
But TV shows don't have rating.. Sajid was saying John abraham Mein neeche jatu hun.. And so many cheap things.
Its very difficult to keep kids away from watching the TV when you are having dinner..
Sharukh.. Farah and family all are after money they even don't think wht is good for society..

Well let me b honest..end of the day what audience look for in awards shows..humour,masti,teasing n all that was part of script..n it was just a show but ashutosh overreacted..sajid n farah actually made fun of aamir,shahrukh,hrithik,amrita rao,abhishek-john,I mean they openly said abhi n john sleepin together etc n also sajid himself made fun of his sister farah..c'mon ashutosh..n they made fun of jodha akbars time which was true it was 4 hrs damit..ashutosh before scripting next movie go n learn n pls GROW UP!!!!
